I work with the secondary curriculum team to support students in accessing the MYP curriculum. This means that we demonstrate care for each child’s learning as we aim to fulfill the IB’s mission to develop “inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help create a better and more peaceful world through education that builds intercultural understanding and respect.”
I connect with the student and staffing team to make sure that the students and teachers have what they need to learn; so much about my role is a collaboration with others as I lead the MYP Programme. I also connect with other IB educators, both within our Dutch International Schools (DIS) network and with the wider IB network, to develop our programme.
As a programme coordinator and teacher, I’m constantly creating, whether it’s a new lesson plan for my students or a new learning experience for a year group. On my team, we’re also constantly creating plans for the future to support both developments in the programme and the changing needs of our ISE community.
Every year is a celebration of learning, from the daily celebrations of “ah-ha” moments in the classroom, to the larger community events, like our Personal Project Exhibition, MYP Ceremony, and end-of-term get-togethers with teachers. As a coordinator, I believe it’s important to celebrate the big achievements, but also the stepping stones and people that help us get there along the way.
